August Updates

I attended Creature from the Black Lagoon in 3-D at the Tampa Theater last weekend, and it was everything I thought it would be. A buddy of mine road-tripped down here to see it, and he said the trip was well worth it. The night was enormously fun! The show's starting time was delayed a bit, so that they could sell every seat-which they did! Nobody really seemed to mind the delay, as it helps the theater keep running. Not only that, but the theater has a live organ that comes up from the bottom of the stage! A very talented organist, whose name tragically escapes me, played music from Phantom of the Opera. The creature came live in costume, and participants could have their picture taken with him. I kind of wish I had for my blog, but I did not want to loose my front row seats! Look for pictures coming soon; the costume was very well designed. The movie itself looked great, and was a blast to watch in 3-D, as the film was intended to be seen. Like true fans, we went home and watched the two sequels afterwords. My buddy and I checked out the aquarium and channelside as well while he was down here. I got to keep my 3-D glasses too; very cool.

Our sister city, St.Petersburg, has it's own note worthy attraction to fans. The Beach theater at St.Pete beach is showing some interesting stuff this summer. According to their website, the films include Star Trek II and IV, ET, and the Rocky Horror Picture show. Some non-genre shows their look great as well like "Ferris Buller's Day off. " Check them out online at www.beachtheatre.org
