A new remake of the cult classic Clash of the Titans will be in theaters soon. I am optimistic about this film, as there is no doubt in my mind it will be a good popcorn movie. The original just has a lovable feel to it, for so many fans. Those who love film making and good special effects will always appreciate the film for Ray Harryhausen's classic stop motion monsters. For us, it's a little sad to see it become "dated." Some of us grew up with it, and relate to it a like a beloved cartoon. The special effects are not convincing anymore, but it adds to the fairytale quality of movies such as Clash of the Titans to those who watched them as children. No, it's not a riveting piece of cinematic excellence, just a campy little action movie that we grew up with. The script was very good in the original, though the acting was stiff and amateurish at times but hey, who cared. A similar script with outstanding new effects will be a pleasure to watch. Some of us geeks will feel a hint of melancholy and nostalgia for the original, but this still looks like a heck of a movie. Check it out!
